Who are Seventh-day Adventists?
Seventh-day Adventists are a global family of Christians who trust in the Bible as God's Word for lasting hope and peace. We are a mainline Protestant church with approximately 19 million members worldwide, including more than one million members in North America.
Seventh-day Adventists seek to be Christ's helping hand in a suffering world. We are here to serve our neighbors and extend God's love around the world. We work in more than 130 countries, operating 173 hospitals and more than 7,500 schools. And through the Adventist Development & Relief Agency (ADRA), we provide community development and disaster relief.
Seventh-day Adventists worship a Godhead of three persons—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They made salvation possible when Jesus came to earth and lived a sinless life in accordance with the Father's will. He then paid the ultimate price for our salvation by dying a cruel death on the cross of Calvary. When Jesus arose from the dead, He won the victory for everyone and made salvation possible for all who put their trust in Him.
After Jesus arose from the dead, the Holy Spirit came in His fullness to serve as our Comforter and Guide. Before returning to heaven, Jesus Christ promised to return to earth a second time to complete His plan of salvation and take His people to heaven. Adventists look forward to that day and believe it is coming soon.
Seventh-day Adventists seek to live for Jesus in every area of their lives. The way we live, worship, eat and drink, help others, and care for the world around us is part of God's plan. We pray to reflect His love and character in all that we do. Our jobs, talents, time, and money have been given to us by God. And trusting in Him, we seek to use these gifts to convey His love wherever we go.
